Materials - Dolls
Doll Suppliers
There are many makers and suppliers of dolls around and
a visit to any miniatures fairs will usually provide a
wide and sometimes bewildering choice of size and pose.
I would strongly suggest that you visit a shop or fair
to choose your doll. Although the moulds used may be the
same, each maker will paint the facial details slightly
differently. I spent a long time looking for a supplier
of dolls and can recommend the maker of all the dolls
that I have pictured on this site.
They are supplied by Sandra Morris of Tower House Dolls
and she is able to offer a mail order service and workshops.

Before You Buy
Whilst, in the main, the decision that you make is down
to personal preference, there are a few points that need
to be considered......
- Avoid dolls jointed with wire as it usually has a
sharp edge that will poke through at the shoulder. This
will destroy the shape and sometimes the fabric of the
outfit.
- Look carefully at the pose of the doll, especially
around the arm area. Sometimes a bent arm will mean
that the sleeve will not fit correctly.
- Love the face of your doll, as usually that's the
only part of the doll that shows once you've dressed
it.
